3/05/2014 11:52:00 PM, Posted by Test, No Comment
Saturday, March 8th at Willamette Sailing Club, 9 am - 2:30 pm - The OCSA-hosted Principal Race Officer (PRO) & Rules Workshop continues developing existing and new Race Committee members, enhancing all of our sailing experiences on the river. This year the clinic will focus on managing sailboat races, as well as rules for both Race Committee and competitors. This one-day clinic will be conducted in two parts with a lunch break between the sessions. The morning session will focus on the planning and coordination involved in managing a sailboat race, and the afternoon session will focus on important rules for the Race Committee and Competitors as well as a review of the OCSA Protest System. There will be something for everyone. You will have the opportunity to learn about topics including courses, timing, planning, promoting, handling protests and much more.
If you are interested in becoming a part of race management either as a Race Captain or on a Race Committee or Protest Committee, this workshop is a must. It's FREE! This workshop will be right on the Willamette River at Willamette Sailing Club. 6336 SW Beaver Rd. off Macadam in John's Landing. Lunch and beer will be provided for a nominal fee. Please bring cash or check. (No cards!)

Last week's race was a short one because the race started late. As a consequence it was a tight finish.

Pam and I were discussing how much we missed seeing the Racer's Row folks at our post-race gatherings, so we decided to move it closer to the Island to entice you to come out after racing and play! (The wings place last week was so much fun. And spicy!)
This Thursday, it's Kenton Station, a favorite of the Soup Crew.

drier weather. Let's sail camp!

What: Fleet 27 sponsored camping trip
When: August 10-12 or 17-19
Where: TBD. Somewhere along the Columbia not too far from downtown.
RSVP: not now. Just mark your calendar and talk to your crew. I will

We have Free Cup of Soup fundraiser on the 10th. Does anyone want to
weigh in on whether this weekend would work?
